Divine Leaders’ goals are simple…

provide tangible support to LGBTQIA+ youth

The Divine Team

We’re a group of clergy and lay leaders from around the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio who got together to imagine ways in which we could tangibly support the needs of LGBTQIA+ youth.

We sought to create an opportunity where youth and their caregivers could receive support and where they could be reminded of their immeasurable worth and dignity. Led by Rev. Olivia Hamilton and Mike Johnson, the Divine team also consists of a handful of LGBTQIA+ adult mentors who accompany the youth and their parents through the Divine program.

  • Rev. Olivia Hamilton

    Associate Rector, Calvary Episcopal Church

Rev. Olivia Hamilton is a queer Episcopal priest and currently serves as the Associate Rector at Calvary Episcopal Church in Cincinnati. Before coming to Calvary, Olivia was trained as a pediatric hospital chaplain. She has a particular heart for queer youth and young people who are experiencing spiritual struggle. Olivia’s ministry strives to be trauma-aware, joyful, and expansive. She delights in creating spaces of belonging for people, both within the church and outside of the church. Olivia has an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School and is a board certified chaplain. She has two adopted children and is lucky to be married to Molly, a nurse practitioner.

  • Mike Johnson

    Christ Church Cathedral

Mike Johnson has a BA in Theology and Social Justice, an MA in Counseling, and an MA in Educational Administration. He has been in education for 32 years and has served as a school counselor, teacher and administrator. As an educator, counselor, theologian, and fellow journeyer, Mike believes that we are created in the image and likeness of God, all of us! We are all a unique and continuously unfolding expression of a God who loves and a God who relates. Members of the LGBTQ+ community are an integral part of our tapestry - without them, God's revelatory presence on earth, is incomplete. He and his wife have four young adult children.
